Today for class we talked about population. There are +7.6 billion people on Earth. The population increases by 73 million/yr, 8377/hr, 149/min and 2.5/sec. 90% of population growth takes place in developing countries in Africa, South/East Asia and Latin America. Crude birth rate is the number of births per 1,000 of the population. Crude death rate is the number of deaths per 1,000 of the population. The Rate of Natural Increase is produced by subtracting the death rate from the birth rate. This gives us the annual natural growth rate in percentage form- for a country or region. Net migration Rate is the difference between the number of persons entering and leaving a country during a year. An excess of persons entering a country is net immigration. For example: Canada has 5.65 migrants per 1000 population. An excess of persons leaving a country is net emigration.
We got our tests back today. The class averaged around a 75%. We had notes to use and we still tied with the honors class who didn't have notes. I need to take better notes for my blog. All my notes were in my notebook but we won't use that. We will only be using the blogs. A couple of people got A's on the test. Others not so much. Fun fact every single person who took the test got this one question wrong. It was a trick question that messed with our perception and our thinking. The question had specific coordinates on it, but it doesn't exist in the world. Everyone just took one glance at the numbers and and assumed it was absolute location. It worked because no one got it right, next time we won't be tricked
