Push
forces include civil war, environmental degradation, unemployment,
religious/ethnic persecution. Pull forces include better economic opportunity,
health services, religious freedoms and political freedom. Total Fertility Rate
(TFR) is the average number of children born per woman. For the population to
remain the same, the TFR must be 2.1 because the 2 kids will replace the
parents when they die. If the TFR is greater than 2.1, then the population
rises. If the TFR is less than 2.1, then the population decreases. The world
TFR is 2.42, it was 2.54 two years ago and 2.47 last year. The United States
TFR is 2.01, it was previously 2.06 last year. The population in America keeps
rising because of immigration, even though their TFR is lower than 2.1. Nigeria
is the highest nation with a TFR of 6.89, they are a developing country. Japan
is the lowest with a TFR of 1.40, most of their population is old and can't
have kids.

Today we talked about the effect humans had on the land and how they changed it. For example, Manhattan was a plain island. Not many buildings or skyscrapers reaching into the sky. There wasn't even that many people living on the island. But then they started to build homes and workspace. Now more people came to the island to find a new home or job. When people think of New York city they think about new opportunities. When the buildings were finished, many people came to the city, they started their own businesses. Soon more and more people came, and the population grew. It could be compared to the gold rush in the west when everyone moved out to find fortune. The city is always working and always moving. Now the people of New York city are living life with hope of a better future. They wake up each morning to become a better person than they were yesterday.
We got our tests back today. The class averaged around a 75%. We had notes to use and we still tied with the honors class who didn't have notes. I need to take better notes for my blog. All my notes were in my notebook but we won't use that. We will only be using the blogs. A couple of people got A's on the test. Others not so much. Fun fact every single person who took the test got this one question wrong. It was a trick question that messed with our perception and our thinking. The question had specific coordinates on it, but it doesn't exist in the world. Everyone just took one glance at the numbers and and assumed it was absolute location. It worked because no one got it right, next time we won't be tricked
