Class today was easy. We finished the slide show of the longitude and latitude lines. The quiz is tomorrow but I really need to study. South America is full of countries unlike the U.S. We have states united to form a country. Since they're united states they technically have a right to leave and form its own country. That's a completely crazy idea to think about. Imagine the state of Rhode Island leaving the states. We would have a tiny nation right next to us and they could declare war. To me the idea of Rhode Island fighting is very funny. But the scary idea is Texas leaving us. Texas is a major powerhouse with a huge population. They could easily take over the states next to it. The only ones able to stand a chance against Texas would be California. I would pay to see that battle. I'm betting money Texas is going to win.

We got our tests back today. The class averaged around a 75%. We had notes to use and we still tied with the honors class who didn't have notes. I need to take better notes for my blog. All my notes were in my notebook but we won't use that. We will only be using the blogs. A couple of people got A's on the test. Others not so much. Fun fact every single person who took the test got this one question wrong. It was a trick question that messed with our perception and our thinking. The question had specific coordinates on it, but it doesn't exist in the world. Everyone just took one glance at the numbers and and assumed it was absolute location. Guns, Germs and Steel day 3. Ian Kuijt is an archaeologist.  He discovered the earliest sign of a community. The community was called Draa. It first emerged  about 11,500 years ago. It took Ian and his team 4 years to discover the community. Draa had the world's first granary- place to store grain/wheat. The Draa people collected wheat and barley. Today farming is called plant domestication. Places that developed their own farming are China- rice, Americas- corn, squash, and beef, Africa- sorghum, millet and yams. When farming excels in an area, a great nation followed it. new guinea people have been farming for 10,000 years. People who had the most productive crops became productive farmers.
