Today
we talked about 5 major religions. Christianity is the biggest religion in the
world. There are 2.2 billion people who are Christians, that's around 30% of
the population. We call them Christians. They are mostly located in Europe,
Americas, and Southern Africa. The denominations of Christianity are Catholic
Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, and Protestants. Protestants include
Lutherans, Methodists, Baptist, Anglicans, Presbyterians, Episcopalians, and
many more. The founder of Christianity is Jesus Christ, but the religion's
origin is from Abrahamic origin. The holy book is The Bible which includes the
old and new testaments. The Christianity beliefs are Jesus is both human and
divine- Son of God, He led a virtuous life, He was crucified, died, Buried,
Resurrected, and ascended into Heaven where he reigns with God the Father. The
clergy of Christianity is the Pope who is head of the Catholic Church, Priests
are local authorities. The second largest religion is Islam. Islam has 1.5
billion adherents. They are called Muslims. They are in Indonesia, The Middle
East, and North Africa. The denominations are Sunnis 75-90%, and Shiites
10-20%. Their founder is Muhammad who was born 570 A.D and died 632 A.D. Their
Holy book is the Qur'an or Koran. Their beliefs are monotheistic which mean one
God, and Abrahamic. They have Five Pillars of their religion which is
Testimony, Prayer, Alms-giving, Fasting, and Pilgrimage. Muslims see their
purpose in life as serving and submitting to Allah which means God and
observing Islamic law.
We got our tests back today. The class averaged around a 75%. We had notes to use and we still tied with the honors class who didn't have notes. I need to take better notes for my blog. All my notes were in my notebook but we won't use that. We will only be using the blogs. A couple of people got A's on the test. Others not so much. Fun fact every single person who took the test got this one question wrong. It was a trick question that messed with our perception and our thinking. The question had specific coordinates on it, but it doesn't exist in the world. Everyone just took one glance at the numbers and and assumed it was absolute location. It worked because no one got it right, next time we won't be tricked
